Fallout 3 Survival Pack is a cool trend in games

Published by slayed35440 at 8:09 pm under PS3, xbox 360 Edit This

The trend of gaming extras presented in videogame special editions was taken to a new level when Halo 3 was released, and the Legendary Edition bought you the special edition of the game that came inside a scaled Spartan helmet.  Which was the coolest way to display your affection for Halo on your desk/bookshelf.  I’m glad to see more and more game developers take this trend to the next level.

Take Fallout 3’s Survival edition.  You get the Collector’s Edition of the game, plus a lunch tin with artwork from the game, a life size model of Fallout’s Pip Boy 3000 wrist computer.  As well as a making of DVD and a vault boy bobble head.  Tell me that’s not awesome if you’re a fan of the Fallout series.

Or a better example of how extravagant the videogame extra market has become, take the Gears Of War 2 Amazon.com exclusive special edition, which comes with the game and a life size scaled replica of the Lancer rifle.  I don’t necessarily know why you would want that, or what you would do with it, but I think it’s a great idea for fans.  Who doesn’t want supreme editions of the games you love with awesome extras.  I know many people are opposed to these special editions because of their rising prices, and seeming senseless extras.  But I think every game should have an edition that offers extra digital content, or anything like the Halo Legendary Edition.

Because that makes games cool.
