Pointless Xbox Live Arcade Games

Published by slayed35440 at 10:01 pm under xbox 360, xbox 360 hype Edit This

So I understand the underlying premise behind Fable 2 Pub Games, make money off a Fable 2 mini-game under the promise that you can transfer any money you earn to your Fable 2 in game character once you get the game.  Intriguing.  And I understand why many people would want that.  But what I don’t understand is, who would just purchase this off of  Xbox Live as a stand alone?

I can understand the people who preordered Fable 2, and so received a free download code for Pub Games in doing so.  But who forks over the 10 bucks just to earn some digital cash for your character, especially amid the real world global credit crunch.  Is it really worth $10 just to earn some extra gold, saving yourself like an hour or so of grinding when you actually get the game?

And is there anybody out there who pays the $10 thinking, cool I get a casino rip-off of craps and roulette, and it only cost me $10.  Or maybe I just don’t get it.

Just like I don’t get MLB Stickball.  Someone explain that to me.  Your target audience is people who likely already own a baseball game for Xbox 360, but now you want them to pay $10 to play a stripped down version of baseball, that’s much much less fun and involving.  Badly rendered 3D graphics, pressing the A button timed properly to hit a ball, and pitching, for $10, with none of the strategy of actual Baseball thrown in?  But don’t worry, they include a few MLB ‘greats’ to accompany your painful journey into the depths of repetitive entertainment lacking XBLA games, of which there seem to be too many.

I’m going to stop at those two today, because it hurts my head to think about awful XBLA games for too long.

But as a side note, don’t forget the original Gauntlet, that game should have been buried after the reinvented Gauntlet series was released.
