Blizzard Hints at New MMO, And Portal Comes To Xbox Live

Published by slayed35440 at 4:15 pm under PC hype, xbox 360, xbox 360 hype Edit This

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has announced that Blizzard has a new ‘next-gen’ MMO in production, and it isn’t World Of Warcraft or some variation thereof.  When questioned about what exactly the game will be Morhaime only responded “…let’s just say it’s going to be different and it’s not going to be a sequel to World of Warcraft. It will be different.”

But apparently Blizzard is serious about getting the as yet unnamed title developed, because they’ve placed the following job requirements on their website for any applicant up to the task:

  • The ideal candidate has extensive experience modeling and texturing a diverse visual range of characters and creatures at a senior or lead level.
  • The ideal candidate has experience concept drawing and illustrating a diverse visual range of characters, creatures, weapons, architecture, and environments. An exceptional understanding of form, structure, color, and light is essential, as is a creative imagination.
  • An exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy and a keen eye towards form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regards to illustration and design.
  • Understanding of the distinctive Blizzard Entertainment visual style and a passion to push it to the next level.
  • Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as a concept artist.

Portal: Still Alive will be releasing via Xbox Live Arcade on October 22, meaning you don’t have to buy The Orange Box to get a hold of the most ingenious game ever conceived.  The new Portal will feature the original game you loved, with 14 additional challenges not found in the original.

The thing that makes me anticipate this most however, is that with Xbox Live Arcade support, Portal will likely have a few downloadable additions released in the coming months.  Because after all, who doesn’t want more portal shooting, creepy computer combating, sentry outsmarting action?
