PlayerAuctions.com Goes Live

The internet’s first eBay-ish site for specifically selling MMO items and money has launched, and it’s pretty cool. PlayerAuctions.com offers items and gold for every WoW realm, as well as overwhelming support for other popular MMO’s such as Warhammer Online, EverQuest, Final Fantasy XI, Star Wars Galaxies, and Lord Of The Rings Online.

And I understand that many people are opposed to concepts like this, because it seems unfair to players who actually grind out the time it takes to make money in the game, and upgrade your skills. But, it’s relatively fair to people who don’t have the same amount of time to donate to in-game play, because when you’re short on time and you’re playing WoW do you want to run through a dungeon, or mine materials for an hour?

Not to mention, as my experience comes chiefly from WoW, the auction house is ridiculously expensive at times, so it’s sort of nice if you’re a low level player, that you have an option to help you out with items and such before you have the ability to raise a skill high enough to facilitate your own money making, if you choose to spend your real world dollars that is.

I honestly don’t see a problem with it, but I’m just not an MMO purist I guess. Videogames are for your own entertainment, and if you get more entertainment out of an MMO by purchasing items with real world money, or paying some guy to play as your character, then go for it. It’s all about the individual. But I could see spending ten bucks to make enough gold to buy a good mount, instead of investing the ridiculous amount of time it can take to purchase one on your own.
