EA Finally Acknowledges Mass Effect 2

As though any of us would be surprised, EA has finally officially acknowledged the existence of Mass Effect 2. Not a surprise, or really news at all, considering Mass Effect was always planned as a trilogy. The only thing that would make me nervous is Bioware’s level of involvement. The announcement didn’t come from them, and Bioware has been hard at work developing Dragon Age: Origins, I don’t know that they are big enough to tackle both projects at the same time.

And there’s my chief worry, that EA would handle the production of Mass Effect themselves. Which would be a disaster. Because, at least in my opinion, EA lacks polish on so many of their titles, chiefly Madden which has desperately needed an overhaul for some time. The biggest mistake of the NFL towards not caring about their fans was making an exclusivity deal with EA, because 2K made way better football titles, with a 2K game you actually felt like you were playing. Whereas Madden feels like you’re on ice any time you try to run the ball.

I just hope that lack of attention to detail doesn’t affect the new Mass Effect, should EA plan on handling the development.
Koei is still banking on the same franchises, as it has done for decades now. Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 is releasing this March. I don’t understand what takes them so long to develop each Dynasty Warriors game, considering every ‘new’ instalment is a complete clone of the game that came before it. Of course with like 2 enhancements, like a few new levels and slightly tweaked graphics. But if you’re a fan you already know you’ll love it, because DW Gundam 2 will be the same thing you played last time around.

And finally, if you haven’t popped Fallout 3 into your disc tray lately, you should as both the PS3 version and Xbox 360 versions have updates available. The Xbox version will prepare your console for Fallout 3’s first DLC, Operation Anchorage, as well as fixing a few XP exploits and other various bugs. The PS3 update is the same, except for including a few trophies that you can earn for PSN. Oh yeah, and the PS3 version doesn’t include any prep for upcoming DLC, because Sony got outbid by Microsoft for the DLC rights.
