New Grand Theft Auto Holiday 2009

Game Informer’s Loose Talk announced that Rockstar has a brand new Grand Theft Auto game in the works, and supposedly the title will be available for release in the fourth quarter of 2009. And that would be completely awesome. Now word is that this will be a full-fledged game, not just another DLC pack. Likely in the vein of previous Grand Theft Auto instalments such as, Vice City, San Andreas, Liberty City Stories, etc., in which the same GTA 3 engine was used, allowing for each to be released in fairly rapid succession.

I would love if that’s what’s happening now with GTA IV, and I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible, considering Vice City was released just twelve months after Grand Theft Auto 3. All I know is we better get the character customization that was possible in San Andreas for this new GTA. I hate not being able to muscle up my character, or make them fat, or change their hair, or have more clothing options.

One of the major reasons I’ve grown to appreciate the Saints Row series so much is that Saints Row has a ridiculous amount of customization options, including the wackiness and unrealistic physics that made the old GTA games so much fun. I’m still not convinced that the more realistic GTA IV engine is better, but it does still make for a great open world experience. Again, I just hope a new GTA offers more customization, and I hope a new one actually is coming in 2009.
