New Bourne Games Coming From EA

Published by slayed35440 at 11:44 am under PC hype, ps3 hype, xbox 360 hype Edit This

EA has secured the rights to make games based on the Bourne series of books by Robert Ludlum.  Which makes me think, thank god because the first Bourne game by Vivendi Games missed the mark for me.  I understand that The Bourne Conspiracy garnered positive reviews, but I was just unimpressed by the overall quality of the game.  The combat didn’t feel as smooth and deadly as it should have, and I just didn’t feel like a true specially trained killer.

But EA having the rights now, and basing the games more on the books opposed to the films which bear almost no resemblance to the source material, should make for a better plot driven experience.  As long as the new Bourne games have the polish that I think Bourne Conspiracy lacked, I’ll be willing to give Jason Bourne another shot.

Halo 3 is getting a brand new DLC map pack, called the Mythic Map Pack.  I’m all for new Halo multiplayer maps, and this one sounds pretty awesome.  The Mythic pack will feature three new maps, the first of which is called Sandbox, which is planned as a giant stage with an emphasis on vehicular combat and Forge customization.  Bungie apparently designed Sandbox completely for the customization options it will offer.  Meaning Sandbox is planned to be an awesome big team slayer battleground like you’ve never seen before.

The second map is Assembly which will take place in a Scarab manufacturing facility.  Assembly will have two bases at either side of the map, making it a perfect setting for Capture the Flag and Assault.  I’m just hoping that Assembly will offer a cool feature like the moving parts of the machinery as Scarab’s are built around you.  Slayer in a stage where your cover is mobile would be the coolest thing ever.

The third and final new map will be called Orbital which is set on the Quito Space Tether.  Orbital is a small map and will be suited to modes like One Bomb and One Flag, which means I probably won’t be playing Orbital much, because I’m all about the large scale combat scenarios.  That and I hate any of the Bomb modes, because it’s just like Capture the Flag without any of the excitement that running around with a flag in enemy territory brings.

The Mythic Map Pack is set to be released on March 3rd over Xbox Live, but will be available early to anyone who orders a copy of Halo Wars, as the pack will be downloadable from the Collector’s Edition of the game.  Which means I’ll have the Mythic pack soon enough as I’ve already pre-ordered my Collector’s Edition of course, I love me some Halo and I can’t wait to play Sandbox.  If it’s anywhere near the quality of Sand Trap, my personal favourite, than the Mythic pack is absolutely worth any price point.

Did you play Shellshock: Nam ‘67?  Well I did, and what I found was a game with disappointing controls and disappointing visuals.  Which is exactly why I’m not that amped up for the sequel Shellshock 2: Blood Trails.  Blood Trails will be the same as the first Shellshock no doubt, taking place in Vietnam, with dodgy controls and sub-par ‘next-gen’ graphics.  Only this time around the big twist is that as you play through the game’s story, at some point Shellshock switches from war simulation to survival horror game, as an infection turns the enemy into crazies hell bent on tearing you to pieces.

I’m probably going to pass on this one.
