Battlefield 1943 Coming Soon

Published by slayed35440 at 12:47 pm under PC hype, ps3 hype, xbox 360 hype Edit This

I’m getting on to this story a little late, but nonetheless it’s still completely awesome.  There’s a new Battlefield game coming out, Battlefield 1943, and it’s going to be download only, so you’ll be able to purchase and immediately claim it from either Xbox Live, or Playstation Network.  And the fact that Battlefield 1943 is a downloadable game is amazing, because the graphics are better than anything we’ve seen previously in the PSN or Xbox Live download market.

Battlefield 1943 is also being developed using the same game engine as Battlefield: Bad Company, although the graphics won’t be as good, otherwise 1943 would end up being like a 6 gig download, 1943 will feature fully destructible environments.  Which means you will no longer have to go around cover to slaughter the enemy, now you can just blow a hole through anything and everything.  Awesomeness.  I’ll be buying this, because I love the Battlefield 1942 games of old, and a new one, especially for next-gen consoles, is very welcome.

Well Xbox Live and Microsoft are giving back to gamers? with the announcement that beginning February 17th Microsoft will bump all Xbox Live-ers up to the Gold subscription for free.  Apparently to coincide with the release of Grand Theft Auto IV’s first DLC pack The Lost And Damned.  I guess that’s pretty cool, except that I’m already a subscriber so nothing will change for me.

How about a deal for people who already are Gold subscribers so that you can subtract the monthly Live fee from the price of The Lost And The Damned DLC, which is currently priced at 1600 points?  Now that would be Microsoft giving back to the gamers.

And finally, if you love Gears Of War, then you’ll love hearing that lead writer Joshua Ortega has said that Gears Of War has an amazing run planned for the next ten years.  Featuring, I guess, tons of new content, books and games and the film adaptation of the franchise no doubt.  Ortega even hinted that there could be a campaign extension for Gears 2 as an upcoming DLC pack.

That I’m all for, because I’m fairly interested in Gears’ storyline, and I would greatly appreciate not having to wait a few years for the next sequel to continue the war against the Locust horde.
