Metal Gear Solid Touch App Dated

Metal Gear Solid Touch has been given a release date finally, and iPhone/iPod Touch owners will be able to creep their way through a portable version of Metal Gear Solid 4’s storyline when MGS Touch is available at the iTunes app store on March 19th. I absolutely can’t wait to play this, as I’m a firm believer that the original Playstation Metal Gear Solid, is the best game ever made, and I’ve been a diehard fan of the series ever since, needing to play through each sequel within the first few days of release.

Now the thought that I can take MGS 4 with me in portable form, is pretty much the coolest thing I’ve heard in terms of iPhone app games. Also great to see are more developers approaching the iPhone with the intention of releasing great games, and utilizing the touch ability and motion sensing of the iPhone to create fantastic portable games. Metal Gear Solid Touch is going to be the coolest game you’ve ever played on your phone before, and I hope Kojima will inspire more big franchises to make the jump to mobile gaming.

Kotaku.com is reporting that Game Informer’s upcoming cover story on BioShock 2 will unveil a multiplayer mode for the upcoming FPS. Multiplayer content was curiously missing from BioShock’s first instalment, and one feature that probably hurt the game’s overall mainstream popularity, despite BioShock’s focus on a story driven FPS experience. BioShock was and still is one of the best looking FPS games on any ‘next-gen’ console period, and I can’t wait to see how awesome BioShock 2’s multiplayer will be because of that fact.

In strange news of the day, Stranglehold, the John Woo/Chow Yun-Fat videogame sequel to the fantastic and legendary Hard Boiled, is getting a movie tie-in, despite it already being a videogame movie tie-in. The problem with that is however, that neither John Woo or Chow Yun-Fat will be involved, and my main question is how can you have a Hard Boiled sequel without John Woo or Chow Yun-Fat. Inspector Tequila just isn’t Inspector Tequila if Chow Yun-Fat isn’t playing the character.

Instead the Stranglehold movie is planning on following the events of the game somewhat, but will instead feature a story centred around a younger Inspector Tequila. Considering this is being developed with nobody from the original film or from the Stranglehold game involved, I’m predicting one of the most horrible action movie spin-offs in existence. How any movie studio could think it would be a good idea to make a Hard Boiled sequel without Chow Yun-Fat or John Woo involved in any way is absolutely beyond me.
