Grease Videogame Announced For Wii

In perhaps the most odd decision in videogame history, 505 has acquired the rights to create a videogame based upon the musical Grease for the Wii. Teaming up with Paramount Digital, apparently 505 is going to create an authentic and true to the film adaptation of Grease, complete with motion control. I have to say…I don’t really understand who this is supposed to appeal to exactly. I understand that the Wii is the gimmicky family oriented console, but are there really enough people clamoring for a game based on Grease that it’s worth 505 and Paramount investing the time and money?
I guess they see something I don’t.

In other gimmicky peripheral news that isn’t quite so lame, apparently one of the big plans for the upcoming Tony Hawk: Ride board peripheral, is a Silver Surfer videogame. Or at least that’s what a rumor reported by Kotaku.com says. I have to say, I don’t exactly know how it would work, but I’m most definitely interested to see the end result.

And finally, in World of Warcraft news, apparently Blizzard has applied for a trademark to the name Cataclysm. Of course this has inspired rampant internet rumors implying that this is Blizzard planning the next expansion pack for World of Warcraft. Also inspiring those internet rumors to say that this is the big announcement to be had from BlizzCon 2009 next month. And I guess that would make things interesting, so I hope it’s info about the next WoW expansion.
