Courtney Love Sues Guitar Hero Over Kurt Cobain

Courtney Love is a little weird sometimes, in her perceptions, and I find it really entertaining. Take the most recent controversy in which Courtney launched a Twitter attack on Activision for putting Kurt Cobain as a playable character in Guitar Hero 5. Courtney went on to say that she hadn’t authorized such a thing, and as the person with sole control over his estate she was going to sue Activision for using Kurt in such a way. And at first I was thinking, wow Guitar Hero guys, did you just make a horrifically big mistake? Because Courtney and the surviving members of Nirvana are very protective about how Kurt Cobain is used in the media.
Then today Activision fires back saying, Courtney Love signed all the necessary papers for them to include Kurt Cobain in the game. So did she forget? I mean what the hell? She signs the papers and then apparently forgets in the months following, then when Kurt Cobain is announced as a playable character she flips out. I find the whole ordeal fairly entertaining, considering Activision has stated that they have all the necessary documentation to prove that they have the right to make a digital Cobain.

I don’t understand the big deal though. Kurt is dead and he was a music icon rivaling literally anyone else in the history of rock. Nirvana changed the entire face of things in music, and their influence is still heard in modern rock bands. Kurt Cobain belongs to the public now, so just let his fans experience him in the ways that they no longer can.
