Shadow Of The Colossus To Be Made Into A Horrible Movie

Dear god, please tell me that I am completely imagining this, and that Sony isn’t making Shadow of The Colossus into a movie that’s bound to be terrible, and force a negative stigma on the greatest game ever conceived for PS2. This is going to be horrible for a variety of reasons. The first of which, the brilliance of the game is in the massiveness of the world you play in, and the fact that it’s so desolate, and there’s almost no dialogue. The perfect set up for the haunting images of destroying epic creatures for a selfish quest by a misguided hero.
The film is going to kill that concept, with bad acting, no doubt a ton of horrible dialogue, and probably not picking up the story at the same point the game starts…and showing anything happening at the beginning, before Wander starts his quest would ruin the entire emotional impact of the ending.

The second reason this is going to be absolutely atrocious, is because the script is being written by the same person that wrote Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. And we all know how revered the Street Fighter movies are for their brilliantly crafted screenplays. . .
And the third reason that concerns me most, is that a Shadow of the Colossus movie won’t have the budget necessary to recreate just how epic the world of the Colossi is, or how epic a battle with a Colossi can really become. There isn’t enough time in a film to capture all that’s present in a game, and eliminating the grandeur of the quest will again make the overall ending of the film hollow, and much less meaningful.

All that and you know there’s going to be some stupid scenes where Wander talks to his horse Aggro, extra meaningless dialogue that will also completely ruin the impact and desolate depressed feeling that Shadow of the Colossus has. Wander is so cool because he’s a mislead faceless hero, and casting some stupid young heartthrob, and putting a face to Wander, is going to completely kill the message dead.
So suffice it to say, I am very against this.
